Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will be playing the first match of the League at Brabourne. Chasing 179, UP Warriorz got off to a shaky start, losing early wickets. Gujarat Giants batted first and piled up a huge 188 for four in their 20 overs. Ashleigh Gardner led the charge with an explosive half-century, putting RCB under serious pressure early in the tournament. What followed was pure carnage. RCB chased the target with astonishing ease. Sophie Devine produced one of the finest knocks in WPL history, smashing 99 off just 36 balls. She dominated the powerplay and never allowed the bowlers to settle. RCB reached 189 for two in just 15.3 overs, winning by eight wickets. It turned into the second-highest successful run chase in WPL history and a night to remember for MI fans. Batting first, Gujarat Giants posted a strong 190 for seven. Beth Mooney played a captain’s knock, scoring 66 off 35 balls, while Dayalan Hemalatha was equally destructive with 74 off 40. Their partnership pushed GG into a commanding position despite regular wickets at the back end. Mumbai Indians began steadily. Yastika Bhatia anchored the innings with a fluent 49 before falling in the 14th over. From there, the game belonged to Harmanpreet Kaur. The MI skipper produced a stunning unbeaten 95 off 48 balls, striking ten fours and five sixes.
