Rohit Sharma, the Indian Test captain, clarified that India has got fresh pitches today and also stated that India will decide their playing XI after speculating the pitch. India will face Australia on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In the pre-match press conference, Rohit Sharma said that, "Today is the only day where we are going to get the other side of it, which will be fresher wickets. So we will go and see how it is, and we will train accordingly." Prior to that, Matt Page, the pitch curator of MCG, clarified that India indeed got a new pitch today. "Today we are on fresh pitches. If India had trained this morning, they would have been on those fresh pitches." Such pitches were formerly used in the Big Bash Leage. Patches were prominent, and it offered low bounce while bowled on it. Coming to the pitches, several photos revealed that the Australian side got fresher pitches that offered optimal bounce, helping the Aussie pacers. It kind of countered Page's claims of giving "match-centric wickets three days before the match" to all teams.
