Star India batter Tilak Varma recently registered history as he became the only batter to score three successive centuries in T20 format. The 22-year-old achieved the feat as the Hyderabad skipper against Meghalaya in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He opened his tournament campaign with a century against Meghalaya on Saturday, 23 November. It would be worthwhile to mention that Varma scored 151 runs in 67 deliveries as he took Hyderabad to a score of 248/4. Varma's knock of 151 runs is also the highest individual score by a player in the tournament's history. The century was Tilak's third successive T20I century as he had recently scored two consecutive centuries for India in the recently concluded four-match series against South Africa in T20Is. The 22-year-old made an unbeaten 107 off 56 in Centurion, which he followed up with an unbeaten 120 just off 47 in Johannesburg to help India win the series 3-1. They opened their innings with Rahul Singh Gahlaut departing for a duck and Tanmay Agarwal scoring 55 off 23. After the first wicket was lost, Skipper Varma went to the crease and played a match-winning knock of , making 151 off just 67. Hyderabad scored a whopping 248 on the board in the first innings under the legs of Varma. With Meghalaya, Dippu was the highest wicket-taker with two wickets to his name. Akash Kumar and Himan took one wicket each as well. Coming out to bat, Meghalaya will hope for a good performance with the bat and chase down 249 runs in the second innings.
