Shreyas Iyer, who has been a consistent source of vital runs in the middle order, has been phenomenal on the field, and finally he has been awarded the best fielder medal by their special guest Ravi Shastri. The Indian Cricket team has posted the dressing room video as a customary post-match ritual, where T Dilip, India's fielding coach, was back with an astonishing appreciation speech for the best fielders. He started with Shreyas Iyer appreciating him for the way he puts his body on the line to save runs. Not only that, the way he dismissed Alex Carrey with the stunning direct throw not only got India a wicket but saved the team from at least 20 more runs. The second contender was Ravindra Jadeja, and as Dilip said, Jadeja was not only saving runs in the outfield but put his hands to save his own ball. That has cost some blood of his own, but Jads stayed undaunted. The third contender was Shubman Gill, who not only saved runs, but took a running catch to dismiss Travis Head. And the final contender was Virat Kohli for his all-round fielding efforts. Speaking of Shreyas Iyer, he has been consistent with his efforts since the home ODI series against England and is often considered one of the finest Indian fielders in the Indian team. Since the Champions Trophy started, Iyer was a consistent contender for the fielding medal, and finally he had his day. The fun part was, Iyer got confused early when Dilip took his name in the beginning but stopped midway realizing he was taking the contender's name. Ravi Shastri walked in and said, "Individual brilliance will take towards certain brilliance. But it is the collective team effort that will help you take you across the finishing line. When Champions play, and today, two champions were playing, pressure game, character shown, team effort! Slashes off brilliance in the field always make a difference. Normally, its the turning point." Shastri then presented the medal to Iyer and wished all the players individually, pushing them for another final win in the CT final at Dubai on March 9.
