Ex-Sri Lanka all-rounder Thisara Perera made history by hitting six back-to-back sixes in an over in the Asian Legends League 2025. This historic occurrence took place at the Eliminator match between Afghanistan Pathans and Sri Lankan Lions at Miraj International Cricket Stadium in Udaipur on Saturday. Perera's masterful innings was the turning point of the match, as he smashed 108 runs off a mere 36 balls, with 13 sixes and two fours. His rampage in the last over, bowled by Afghanistan's left-arm spinner Ayaan Khan, was something to cherish. The over started with a wide, but Perera did not let the chance go to waste, sending the next three balls straight into the stands. In spite of Ayaan's efforts to shift his angle and outsmart Perera, the Sri Lankan persisted with his attack, hitting the rest of the deliveries for sixes as well. The overproduced 39 runs, three of them wides, as the Lions achieved a strong score of 230 runs in 20 overs. Interestingly, this is not the first time that Perera has hit six sixes in an over; he had done so earlier in a List A match for Army Sports Cricket Club in 2021. Their efforts together paved the way for a stiff chase for Afghanistan Pathans. In spite of a quick beginning and a determined fightback by Asghar Afghan, who smashed three sixes in an over and scored 70 off 31 balls, the Pathans came up short, making just 204/7 and losing the game by 26 runs. The Asian Legends League 2025, which is from March 10 and is running until March 18, includes five squads: the Afghanistan Pathans, Bangladesh Tigers, Indian Royals, Sri Lankan Lions and the Asian Stars.
