Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary tried to clear his name regarding his criticisms made on Gautam Gambhir by blaming media edits. In a recent interview given to News 18 Bangla, Tiwary criticized Gambhir for his choice on team selection. He also called Gambhir a hypocrite for not following his own words on not appointing foreign coaches. Not only that, he blamed Gambhir for having PR who will fight for him in everything. However, regarding the "hypocrite" remark, another former Indian cricketer, Akash Chopra, criticised him, to which Tiwary replied that the media might have edited it. Tiwary said, "I was at my coaching centre, sitting there after practice. The local media came there to take my interview. We spoke for 20-25 minutes, and you know that when these people [media] take interviews, they go back to the office and edit it – whatever is convenient, what they feel is required will be kept. They will try to keep whatever there is demand for." He clarified that Chopra likely only saw snippets of his interview, not the full 20 minutes, and emphasized that his remarks were independent of others' opinions, such as those of Sunil Gavaskar or Sanjay Manjrekar. He expressed respect for Chopra's honest views but firmly stated that his comments were based on his own feelings and not influenced by the ongoing criticisms of Gambhir. What did Tiwari say about Gambhir? On January 9, Manoj Tiwary criticized Gautam Gambhir, the India head coach, labeling him a hypocrite who doesn’t practice what he preaches. Speaking to News18 Bangla, Tiwary questioned Gambhir’s coaching credentials, accusing him of lacking clarity and a distinctive coaching approach. The former Bengal captain linked his remarks to India’s recent struggles, including their Border-Gavaskar Trophy loss and failure to qualify for the World Test Championship final. Tiwary also suggested that Gambhir surround himself with coaches like Morne Morkel and Abhishek Nayar, who he believes are unlikely to challenge his decisions.
