Virender Sehwag was vociferous in criticizing Glenn Maxwell and Liam Livingstone in view of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) versus Punjab Kings (PBKS) contest set to occur at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, on Sunday, April 20, 2025. After restricting Maxwell from participating in the earlier reverse fixture at Chinnaswamy Stadium, PBKS today dropped him again. RCB also benched Livingstone in favor of Romario Shepherd. In response to the recent developments, Sehwag latched out at both players for not being hungry enough to win the IPL title. The former India opener stated many foreign players treat the IPL as a holiday and do not care enough to create a winning culture in their teams. Sehwag Commented on Cricbuzz: "Their hunger is gone. Maxwell and Livingstone have lost their hunger. They came to celebrate a holiday. You can't see any effection with their teams. They do not have the desire to do well for their team and win the title.' Sehwag, while sharing his experience of being the captain of Delhi Daredevils (DD), said he had witnessed similar attitudes before and had raised concern with the franchise owner. However, he was full of praise for the likes of David Warner, AB de Villiers, and Glenn McGrath for their commitment. Also Read | MI vs CSK: Who Won Yesterday's Match? Sehwag added: "David Warner, Ab de Villiers, and Glenn Mcgrath. McGrath used to tell me, 'why you are not playing me, I will win you the match.' But I could play one of Dirk Nannes or Glenn Mcgrath. Apart from these 3, a lot of players came and left. You get to know when you lose a semi-final or playoffs, they ask 'where is the party.' You have lost, pack your back and go home. In that party, no one is concerned that you have lost a playoff match. That really hurts Indian players. I used to tell my owner to." Livingstone scored the runs in six innings from seven games, totaling 87 runs this IPL season, and picked up two wickets, while Maxwell had 41 runs from five innings in six games and picked up four wickets as well. The disappointing fact is that both players underperformed last season: Maxwell for RCB and Livingstone for PBKS.
