Former West Indies captain Brian Lara wrote an emotional post after watching the second Test between West Indies and India in Delhi. The great batter heaped praise on the visitors for their never-say-die spirit despite a rocky beginning and hoped for a better future for West Indies cricket. Lara's Pride in West Indies' Resilience Lara took Instagram to acknowledge the resilience displayed by the West Indies team in the second innings of Delhi Test. The visitors fought back bravely after being bowled out for 248 runs in the first innings. His post was an indication of admiration and hope for the future of the team. He posted: "Firstly, I want to express with great humility what an honour it was to be called upon to represent West Indies cricket at such a crucial time. I understand the current struggle and the restrictive financial situation, but like our players are showing presently, if we fight hard and believe in the cause, there will be a light shining at the end of the tunnel to take us through it all." Lara added that talking to the players made him realize more about their challenges and thinking. He was impressed with their curiosity and eagerness to do better despite difficult situations. "Being in the presence of the players brought me closer to their reality. The number of questions they asked showed me that they're not just going through the motions - they're searching for ways to lift themselves and the team out of this strife." Lara is of the opinion that the presence of legends and their experience may motivate players to play better. "Sometimes from the outside looking in, we assume their commitment is lacking, but we may be wrong. Often, they just need guidance. Something for CWI to consider would be having one of our greats, and we have a few, to provide a presence amongst the team. Not necessarily travel as part of the team but to be seen and to be available for our players to bounce ideas off when they are searching for inspiration and breakthroughs." Lara wrapped up by emphasizing how the presence of icons such as Sir Vivian Richards could prove advantageous for the side. He also thanked the hosts, along with fellow cricket greats, for their hospitality at the Delhi Test. Lara's words are a reminder of the passion and legacy that characterize West Indies cricket, and his belief that, with unity and guidance, better days are ahead.
