It's been a place of great happiness, sometimes great disappointment as well, but a place that has truly given me everything I am today. I can never be more grateful for what the KSCA and this great ground and this iconic ground have given me in my life." The Karnataka State Cricket Association, led by former India bowler Venkatesh Prasad, launched the tribute in recognition of the massive contributions made by Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble to Indian and Karnataka cricket. Prasad had once shared the dressing room with both legends. Apart from Dravid and Kumble, former India women’s captain Shantha Rangaswamy was also remembered with a stadium stand named after her. Chinnaswamy Stadium: A Ground Full Of Memories For Dravid The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has been a massive part of Rahul Dravid’s cricketing life, right from watching matches from the stands as a kid to becoming one of the greatest legends of Karnataka. Dravid himself revealed that he has spent more time in the stadium than in his own home. He also spoke about his visits to the stadium with his father during his childhood days. These visits instilled the love for the game in him, and the pride of having a stand named in his honor is even more special. He said: “I’m really thankful and grateful that Venkatesh Prasad and his committee thought it to name an end after me. My father, a lot of you may know, loves the game. And he was really instrumental in creating that love for the sport that I have. He brought me here to so many games, not only Test matches but also Ranji Trophy games. Whenever he would take a leave, he would bring me to come for at least one day of cricket in every match when I was a young kid. I think he would be so proud today to know that his son has an end named after him." Rahul Dravid's Impact on Indian Cricket Explained Rahul Dravid is considered to be one of the best Test batsmen in the history of the Indian cricket team. He is second only to Sachin Tendulkar in the list of India’s all-time run-scorers. Rahul Dravid is known for his patience, technique, and mental strength, which made him the pillar of the Indian batting line-up during some of the most crucial years in the history of the Indian cricket team. Even after his retirement, his stature in the Indian cricket team continued to rise. He was the head coach of the Indian cricket team, which won the 2024 T20 World Cup after an 11-year wait for an ICC trophy. He later stepped down as the head coach of the Indian cricket team, and Gautam Gambhir became the new head coach.
