Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Jaydev Unadkat praised the team’s bowling group for adapting well on a flat surface, following their 42-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Friday. The veteran pacer picked up the key wicket of Jitesh Sharma and played a crucial role in the middle overs as RCB’s chase of 232 fell short. Unadkat said the bowlers were prepared for a high-scoring match and focused on accuracy and variety to stem RCB’s momentum. “Probably one of the best wickets to bat throughout the tournament. We were expecting it in Hyderabad, but we didn't get it there. Had to break momentum, and the way to do it is by mixing up the pace,” Unadkat said after the match. He credited Pat Cummins for keeping the side composed and focused on execution. “That's the key – Cummins was calm, and the message was to remain tight in the field. The message was to try and make things happen. The bowlers were spot on. That's how the game goes – one over, and Malinga did everything. It was quite clear that it was a good track to bat on. So we had to execute the yorkers. The bowlers did a really good job.” Malinga, SRH’s death overs specialist, impressed once again with two crucial wickets, while Cummins returned with figures of 3/28 in his four overs. RCB Face Setback After Loss to SRH, Final Match Crucial Cummins reveals SRH misread pitch, praises Kishan and young Malinga SRH captain Pat Cummins admitted that the team initially misjudged the conditions at the Ekana Stadium, believing a 170-run total would be competitive. But thanks to Ishan Kishan’s explosive 94* off 48 balls and a 231-run finish, they put themselves in a commanding position. “Little bit too late in the season. Good effort with bat and ball. Nitish is back bowling. Abhishek's always telling me [to bowl]. Kishan got us to 230 rather than 200. We actually probably misread the wicket. We thought it was a 170 wicket...” Also READ: Cummins Shines as SRH Crush RCB by 42 Runs in IPL 2025 Despite the misreading, Cummins credited his team’s all-round performance and highlighted the importance of being flexible in a tournament like the IPL. “You've played enough to see anything can happen. Normally, if someone hits a six, it's either a good shot or a bad shot. [Malinga] has been a real find this season.” With this victory, SRH are currently in the 8th spot with 5 wins from 13 matches. While they are already ruled out of the playoffs, the team will eye a strong finish for the season.
