Matt Henry has been named as the replacement for the injured Chris Woakes in the Welsh Fire squad for the remainder of The Hundred Men’s 2025. Woakes had to pull out of the tournament following a dislocated shoulder injury. He had injured this ugly one while fielding on the opening day of the final Test of the recent England-India Test series at The Oval. Henry will arrive at the Fire's lineup following the end of the current second Test of the series between New Zealand and Zimbabwe. He has been in impressive touch with the ball in all formats. The right-arm pacer has returned figures of 6/39, 3/51 and 5/40 in the three innings he has bowled till now against Zimbabwe. He was also part of New Zealand's tri-series win against Zimbabwe and South Africa prior to the current Test series. The 33-year-old was the top wicket-taker with 10 wickets in four innings, giving away runs at an economy rate of 8.47 in the tri-series. Henry has had a brilliant economy rate (4.62 in 2023 and 7.25 in 2024) in the tournament. Welsh Fire began their season with a defeat, losing to Northern Superchargers by eight wickets with 11 balls remaining. Batting first, they posted 143/9, boosted by a quickfire 43 off 23 deliveries from wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow. However, Zak Crawley’s unbeaten 67 from 38 balls stole the spotlight.
