The senior Australian batter Steve Smith has called Jasprit Bumrah the best bowler in all formats. Speaking to the media before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Smith said that Jasprit Bumrah challenges the batters with both the new and old ball. A five-Test series between India and Australia will begin on November 22 in Perth. India won the last two series here, and if they want to win the third in a row, they will highly have to count on Bumrah's skills, which are unique for this format. While tallking to that Star Sports, Smith said: "He's a wonderful bowler, whether I face him with the new ball, slightly older ball, or even the old ball. He's got great skills with all of them. He's a great bowler, arguably the best fast bowler across the three formats. It's always going to be a challenge." Steve Smith, who has been the opening batter from the last few Test series, is close to the milestone of 10,000 Test cricket runs. He so far has scored 9,685 runs in 109 matches and need to perform well to achieve the milestone. Bumrah has been outstanding since his Test debut in January 2018, taking 164 wickets in 37 games at an average of 20.51. He has shone especially well in Australia, picking up 32 wickets from seven matches with an average of 21.25. Despite the best performance by Bumrah, team India failed to lift the Cricket World Cup 2023 trophy. However, his heroics helped India to lift the T20 World Cup 2024 title at Barbados. India is currently playing their home Test season. They have just concluded 1 Test out of the two-match series against Bangladesh. Further, they'll play three Tests against New Zealand before they leave for Australia. Also Watch | ICC Drops Thrilling Anthem for Women’s T20 World Cup 2024
