India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has praised the Indian team for not reacting to Pakistan's triggering gestures during Sunday's Super Four match. Speaking to the press before India's match against Sri Lanka, Doeschate said that he is proud of his boys after they chose to answer with the bat. Doeschate said that he had glimpses of Haris Rauf's actions at the boundary, and he would have probably justified India's reaction. if things had escalated. However, Douschate was relieved because things didn't. He said, “Let me just say, the amount of pressure that’s been heaped on the players because of the situation, it’s very difficult to control their behaviour," ten Doeschate said in a press conference, defending Sharma and Gill’s actions. “I did see some of the things Haris did, and, you know, that’s not our concern. Like I said earlier, we’re really proud of how the guys carried themselves, you know, they were on fire with their bats on the field." But we were very focused on how we wanted to play. I think we stuck to the cricket really well. It would have been easy to lose our minds at that point, given the celebration as well. Some words were said during the game from the Pakistan bowling unit, but I thought the guys stuck really well to the task of getting the job done and winning the game." Pakistan players, especially Haris Rauf, had been pretty triggering during the match. Even though Sahibzada Farhan's half-century gun celebration wasn't that odd, Rauf's jet-crash century at the boundary was really hysterical. Indian fans even urged the ICC to take action; however, the Indian government did not give any reply. Rauf, while bowling, was even throwing words at the Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, who gave befitting replies with their bats.
