South Africa are facing Australia in the WTC final at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London. The Proteas are attempting to claim their first ICC title after 27 years. They have a good chance of ending their long drought after Day 3. Most of the credit goes Aiden Markram and the skipper Temba Bavuma, who are still unbeaten at the crease at the Stumps of Day 3. Bavuma has made history with his courageous innings. Temba Bavuma ended Day 3 with 65 runs off 121 balls. This is now the top score by an individual captain in a WTC final. He surpassed the earlier record by New Zealand's Kane Williamson, who had scored 52 not out during the 2021 final against India. Mitchell Starc's unbeaten 58 assisted Australia in getting to 207 in the second innings from being 77/7 at some stage. Kagiso Rabada was the best bowler once more with four wickets. However, South Africa had a difficult beginning in the pursuit, losing Ryan Rickelton early for 9. Then Aiden Markram and Wiaan Mulder built a 61-run partnership to get the innings going again. Mulder was dismissed by Starc, but Markram then scored his century and built a crucial stand with Bavuma. Bavuma also scored a good fifty, despite having a cramp in his leg. The skipper showed a brave approach by staying tall at the crease even with immense pain. Earlier in the game, Australia scored 212 in the first innings with half-centuries by Steve Smith and Beau Webster. Rabada took five wickets. Pat Cummins was the top performer for Australia with the ball, taking six wickets to dismiss South Africa for only 138 in their first innings.
