The former Delhi batter revealed that Chappell was about to drop him for not following his instructions. The former head coach even warned him that his spot would be given to someone else if he failed to obey his instructions. Virender Sehwag said that Greg Chappell’s words had hurt him. Later, Dravid came to calm the situation between these two. In a conversation with the Life Savers Show, Sehwag said: “Yes, Greg Chappell’s words once hurt me. I was going through a little rough patch. He said to me, ‘If you don’t move your feet, you won’t score runs.’ I replied, ‘Greg, I’ve scored over 6000 runs with an average of over 50.’ But he said, ‘Doesn’t matter.’ We had a bad argument. Then Rahul Dravid came and stepped in to separate us. Later, when I was going out to bat, Greg said, ‘Make sure you score, or I’ll drop you.’ By the end of the second session, I had scored 184 runs. After that, I told Rahul Dravid, ‘Tell your coach not to come near me.” Gregg Chappell served as the Indian head coach from May 2005 to March 2007. He was known for all sorts of controversies, either with the former captain Sourav Ganguly or other players. Chappell had to end his tenure on a heartbreaking note; the Indian team were eliminated from the ODI World Cup 2007 in the most humiliating fashion. Talking about Virender Sehwag, the former Indian opener is arguably the most successful opener from our country.
