Delhi Capitals mentor Kevin Pietersen addressed questions around T Natarajan’s exclusion from the playing XI, ahead of their crucial clash against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the DC mentor Kevin Pietersen said team combinations have left little room for adjustments despite Natarajan being fit and available for the season. “We can only play 12 players, one being an impact player. And if you can tell me where he fits in at the moment, you would help us. If you can help us play 13-14, it would help us. One thing I can say about Natarajan is that he's doing everything that he's been asked to do, as are all of our players,” Pietersen said. Natarajan, who is known for his yorkers and death bowling, is yet to get a game for the DC side. DC have won six of their nine matches so far and sits in fourth place on the IPL 2025 points table. With the playoff race heating up, Pietersen stressed the importance of squad depth and role clarity in such a long tournament. He also hinted that the TN pacer could play in the upcoming matches. They know that their chance is just around the corner,” he added. The Capitals are coming off a loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and will play against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday, April 29, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium once again. DC will certainly look to bounce back against KKR at their home. Meanwhile, KKR are currently in the seventh spot with three wins and five losses from their nine matches.
