Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi hammered an unbeaten 190 off just 90 deliveries during a practice match at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) on Tuesday. The match, held behind closed doors at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, was part of the final preparation camp for India’s U-19 squad ahead of their England tour. Opening the innings, Suryavanshi attacked from the outset. His knock included 24 boundaries and 11 sixes, most of them over deep midwicket and long-off. He reached his century in 47 balls and accelerated further in the second half of the innings. Coaches and selectors present at the ground reportedly stopped taking notes midway through, simply watching the teenager dismantle the bowling attack. Suryavanshi will be opening the innings alongside Ayush Mhatre, the U-19 captain, in the five-match ODI series beginning June 24 in England. His latest innings is likely to influence team strategy ahead of the high-stakes series. The NCA match was a full 50-over simulation, and Suryavanshi batted till the 43rd over before retiring out.
