A teenage cricketer in Australia was rushed to hospital after being hit on the head by a ball during warm-up for a T20 match in Melbourne on Tuesday. The incident occurred at Walley Tew Reserve in Ferntree Gully, sending shockwaves through players and spectators. Emergency medical teams attended the scene promptly. According to 7News, the boy received immediate treatment from paramedics before being transferred to Monash Medical Centre in a critical state. Hospital sources confirmed that the young player is currently on life support. Ringwood and District Cricket Association president, Michael Finn, said, “Currently our thoughts and prayers are with the family. We’re committed to providing whatever support we need to for the clubs and the officials that were involved." The witness said, “Someone ran and grabbed a defib and an ambulance was there within maybe five or six minutes. Then there was fire brigade and police flying in left, right and center." The same eyewitness described the chaos that followed. They could not figure out at first what actually was going on. All they understood was that someone was hit on the head. However, the situation turned out be serious when a defibrillator was summoned. The witness said, “Everyone was just stunned, not really knowing what was happening and how serious it was, because at first it was like someone had been hit in the head. When they called for the defibrillator it was like … this is much more serious. There were players from both teams who knew the boy, so both teams were concerned.’’ Local cricket authorities are cooperating with medical teams as investigations continue. The match was abandoned immediately after the accident, leaving the community in deep distress.
