Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal recently expressed his deep gratitude after being discharged from the hospital following a heart attack earlier this week. The veteran cricketer continues to play domestic cricket despite his international retirement in 2025. He was a part of the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, where he was the captain of Mohammedan Sporting Club. The incident occurred while he was on the field. Immediately after the toss against Shinepukur Cricket Club, the veteran cricketer felt discomfort and was taken to a local hospital for an initial check-up. However, his condition worsened, and he collapsed soon after the check-up. He required emergency medical attention and was taken to the ICU. Tamim was rushed in for an angioplasty surgery on Monday, an operation that ultimately saved his life. Tamim acknowledges life-saving support After spending four days in the hospital, Tamim was discharged on Friday and took to social media to thank those who stood by him during this challenging time. "By all your prayers, I am at home now. In these four days, I have discovered my surroundings as I found a new life. All that realisation has only love and gratitude. I have had your love throughout my career. But now I have felt it even more intensely. I am really overwhelmed," wrote Tamim in Bangla on his Facebook page. He gave special mention to trainer Yakub Chowdhury Dalim, whose timely CPR intervention was credited for saving his life. "How to thank our trainer Yakub Chowdhury Dalim bhai, I don't really know. I learned later, the specialist doctors said that I wouldn't have been saved if Dalim Bhai had not given CPR properly at that time," he shared. Tamim concluded his message by thanking his fans for their continued support. He also mentioned that his recovery is far from over. "The road to full recovery is still long. Keep me and my family in your prayers. May everyone's life be beautiful and peaceful. Love for everyone." Tamim Iqbal announced his retirement from international cricket in January 2025.
