Tamil Nadu Cricket Association TNCA has announced an 18-member squad ahead of their opening match against Saurashtra, which will begin from October 11 to 14. Tamil Nadu had ended the last season in the semifinals and was defeated by eventual champions Mumbai. The side has retained R Sai Kishore, the captain of last season. Under his captaincy, the side remained in the semi-final for the first time in the 2016-17 season. Wicket-keeper batter N. Jagadeesan has been made vice-captain after he had played a blockbuster outing in the last season that included 816 runs. The team has added C. Andre Siddarth to the side for the very first time after he gained an unbeaten century in the Buchi Babu Memorial All India Invitational Cricket Tournament. Warrier will lead the bowling attack, while Indrajith will look to get good contributions with the bat. Both players had hamstring injuries during the recent Duleep Trophy where they represented India C. Washington Sundar will, however, not be available for the first game. Vasudeva Das, the chairman of selection committee, said: "As of now, they [Warrier and Aparajith have been doing their rehabilitation at the TNCA Academy (in Chepauk). They are being monitored by our physios. And they are also being monitored by the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
