Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has strongly criticised Suryakumar Yadav and the Indian team after their 76-run defeat to South Africa in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Super 8 stage. The match was played in Ahmedabad which was India's first Super 8 game of the the world cup. India lost the match which ended their record 12 consecutive T20 World Cup victories. Ashwin expressed in his YouTube channel Ash ki Baat that the team appeared unprepared to face the upcoming challenge. He explained that South Africa used slower deliveries to create difficulties for Indian batters yet India could not change their playing style to match the situation. Ashwin said: “Please do not come for games under-prepared. We were under-prepared for this game because South Africa only bowled slower balls against our batsmen. Suryakumar Yadav faced 22 balls, out of which at least 17-18 were slower balls. Slower balls or full balls. Not a single ball was back of length.” He Added: “See, credit where it’s due. Give the devil its due credit. South Africa with the ball were exceptional. With the bat, they were unbelievable under pressure.” Also Read | Abhishek Sharma Dropped?
