Abhishek Sharma's batting woes continued in the T20 World Cup on Wednesday, February 18, as he faced his third straight duck. This time, it was the Netherlands' off-spinner Aryan Dutt who got the better of him at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Abhishek attempted to pull a delivery through mid-wicket but misread its length. The ball wasn’t short enough, sneaking under his bat and sending the stumps flying. Former India opener Virender Sehwag commented that the ball was definitely hittable. He empathized with Abhishek, recalling his own experiences of getting out for zero in consecutive innings. Sehwag advised that instead of going for big hits right away, Abhishek should take a moment to settle in at the crease. "It was a ball to be hit, but he missed it. I have been in his shoes, making 2-3 zeroes, but making a comeback is not that difficult because it is just about the mindset. It is about shot selection, which is where he is making a mistake. The expectations from him are to score right away, and he may make a mistake. But he should play some balls while he is not scoring runs, try to play some balls," he said on Cricbuzz. The duo from Mumbai Indians managed to contribute just 30 runs in their 28-ball partnership. "You cannot be batting with the same strike rate all the time. Someone in the partnership has to decide when and how to counter. That is very important," Mohit Sharma said. In the end, India managed to post a solid 193/6, largely thanks to Shivam Dube’s explosive 66 off just 31 balls. In response, the Netherlands were held to 176/7, with Varun Chakaravarthy taking three key wickets. Abhishek Sharma’s Form Dip Overshadowed by Dube and Chakaravarthy Abhishek Sharma’s batting struggles continued as he recorded yet another duck, this time falling to Aryan Dutt from the Netherlands. Despite his early dismissal, India set a competitive total of 193/6, driven by Shivam Dube’s fiery 66 off 31 balls. Varun Chakaravarthy then shone with the ball, taking three crucial wickets to limit the Netherlands to 176/7. While Abhishek will be eager to find his form again, India’s overall performance kept them in control, leading to another significant victory.
