The T20 Mumbai League has been delayed for a week after the 2025 Indian Premier League got extended after a week's break. Previously, the Mumbai-based league was scheduled on 26th June, right a day after the previously scheduled final of IPL. And now, the league will start on June 4, right after the rescheduled IPL ends. The tournament will continue till June 10, having two matches each day. Earlier, the Wankhede Stadium was only concerned with the league, but now it will include either of the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, the MCA ground in BKC, or the Brabourne Stadium along with Wankhede. On Friday, a reliable source in the Mumbai Cricket Association told TOI, "The league will now be held at two venues-the Wankhede and one amongst the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, the MCA ground in BKC, or the Brabourne Stadium (in Cricket Club of India). There will be double headers at both venues every day." Collectively, they spent ₹7.79 crore to build 18-member squads. Players were classified into Senior, Emerging, and Development categories, with base prices set at ₹5 lakh, ₹3 lakh, and ₹2 lakh respectively. Teams were required to pick a minimum of 4 senior, 5 emerging, and 5 development players. Icon players were retained ahead of the auction for ₹20 lakh each. Big names like Atharva Ankolekar (₹16.25 lakh), Musheer Khan (₹15 lakh), and Sairaj Patil (₹15 lakh) were among the top buys. Icon players included Suryakumar Yadav, Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, and Shreyas Iyer. Former India pacer Dhawal Kulkarni will mentor Eagle Thane Strikers, while Dronacharya Awardee Dinesh Lad, the childhood coach of Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur, will serve as Chief Team Guide for Triumph Knights.
