Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Swastik Chikara has spoken about his encounter with Virat Kohli about the India batter's strategy for the rest of his career. Immediately after India's T20 World Cup victory in June last year, Kohli retired from the format at the international level. In May this year, he also closed the curtain on his Test career. It is only in ODI cricket and the IPL that the batting legend remains available as a player. Swastik Chikara, who was selected by RCB in the IPL 2025 auction for Rs 30 lakh, had an opportunity to spend time in the dressing room with Kohli. Now he has disclosed Kohli's retirement plans. Here is what Chikara told RevSportz: "Virat bhaiya said, 'Jab tak cricket khelunga, jab tak main poora fit hun. Ye impact player ki tarah nahi khelunga. Main sher ki tarah khelunga (I will play cricket as long as I am completely fit. I won't play as an impact player. I will play like a lion). I will field for the entire 20 overs and then bat. The day I have to play as an impact player, I will quit cricket'," Also Read | AUS vs SA: Fans Troll Marnus Labuschagne Over Poor Form in 2nd ODI Kohli is still on the sidelines since India's subsequent task is the Asia Cup 2025, which will take place in the format of T20I cricket. The continental tournament will commence on the 9th of September with the final to be held on the 28th. The United Arab Emirates is hosting the tournament with Dubai and Abu Dhabi hosting the matches. Kohli and fellow experienced player Rohit Sharma will sit down with the BCCI to talk about their international careers. Having retired from Tests and T20I cricket already, it is uncertain if both players will persist in ODIs after the upcoming white-ball tour of Australia. NDTV sources indicate that Kohli and Rohit will meet with BCCI officials to plan their future, with the board expected to leave the decision in the hands of the two batting legends. The talks are expected to happen after the Asia Cup is behind us. It has been understood that Shreyas Iyer might be made ODI captain in the same meeting, as the BCCI wants to free Rohit from the pressure of captaincy.
