Suryakumar Yadav's return to the Duleep Trophy didn't go as he planned and was far from perfect. The India T20 captain made 5 and 16 in two innings after he regained from an injury that saw him miss the first couple of matches. People had hoped that when he returned, he would make up for lost time with a good performance as he changed from India C to India B. However in both innings, he got out early, and it was his India teammate Arshdeep Singh who took his wicket. Arshdeep performed really well and registered a career-best in the First-Class matches, including 6 wickets for 40 runs, as India D outplayed India B at Anantapur. During the match, he even teased Suryakumar after getting him out in the first innings. According to The Indian Express, Arshdeep went to Surya's dressing room and said, 'Aise khelna chahiye tha (That's how you should have played it). The friendly teasing was enjoyed and made Yadav laugh. Arshdeep came very close to a first Test call for India but the BCCI selection committee, under Ajit Agarkar, chose Yash Dayal and Akash Deep as the third and fourth fast bowlers in the Bangladesh series. Akash too had a good match, as he took 2 wickets for 19 runs and himself scored 17 runs for India in the first innings. For Suryakumar Yadav, who hasn't played for India in T20 matches since Sri Lanka series, this was another chance to show why he needs to be in the Test team. He has played only one Test for India, against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur last year and there he managed to score just 8 runs off 20 balls, after which he didn't play Test cricket.
