Suryakumar Yadav admitted that India struggled to contain England’s lower order, while Adil Rashid’s brilliant spell made batting difficult, leading to a 26-run defeat in the third T20I. India had England reeling at 127/8, but the visitors recovered to post 171/9. In response, India fell short, managing only 145/9 while chasing 172. Suryakumar praised Adil Rashid's effort for restricting Indians from rotating strikes. Furthermore, he also acknowledged India’s failure to capitalize on their strong position. Without being shy, Surya hopes that Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel might have taken India to the finishing line but it worked otherwise. In the post-match presentation on January 28, Surya said, "I felt there would be a little dew later in the day. I feel we had the game in our hands when Hardik and Axar were batting. Credit goes to Adil Rashid, he bowled really well. That’s why he is a world-class bowler. He didn’t allow us to rotate the strike. I feel you always learn something from a T20 game. I felt when we were bowling around 127/8 to 170, I think that was too much at the end. We’ve got to learn from the batting point of view. Got to go back to the drawing board and learn from our mistakes.” England started well with Ben Duckett (45) and Jos Buttler (24) before Rashid and Mark Wood’s late contributions boosted them to a competitive total of 171. He acknowledged England’s batting struggles but praised the tail-enders for adding crucial runs. Not only that, he gave massive credit to Adil Rashid, calling him England’s most important player. Buttler said, "The guys bowled really well, it was nice to show off their skills. Not about how fast they can bowl, but how well they can adapt to the wicket. (Adil Rashid) He's the most important player in our team, we are fortunate to have Rashid in the team. He has all variations. Jofra is consistent, he won’t go for sixes often, but he will come back for sure if he does. I think the wicket looked different, Duckett played well. We lost wickets in clumps, we were disappointed. It was crucial to pick up wickets in the powerplay. Loved the way we kept pushing and kept taking the game on. Credit to Rashid and Wood, they had a crucial partnership in the end. That was the difference in the end." Notably, with England winning the T20I by 26 runs, the series still looks alive as it is hanging with a scoreline of 2-1 in India's favour. Both teams will face each other at Pune for the fourth T20I at the Maharashtra Cricket Academy Stadium on January 31.
