India's T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav has provided a strong indication of what lies ahead for him in the international game. Following India's win in the Asia Cup 2025, Suryakumar spoke about his long-term ambitions and how he is going to balance his cricketing life as he ages. Talking to News24, Suryakumar stated that at 34 years old, he is keen on playing white-ball cricket primarily for the next three to four years. He stated further that his long-term aims are the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 and the T20 World Cup later in the year. Suryakumar Yadav said: "Right now, how it feels is that I am almost 34 or 35. I feel that if I focus properly on white-ball cricket for the next three to four years, it will be better for me and for the team. I will be able to contribute much more effectively there. If you want the truth, maybe the 2028 Olympics and the T20 World Cup are in my mind. I will carefully see how things go. This year and next year, I also need to keep my body fit. You know, when you reach 37 or 38." The star batsman has been India's most reliable performer in T20 cricket in the last few years and played a key role in India's Asia Cup victory under his captaincy. Being among the older players in the team, Suryakumar feels that focusing on white-ball cricket can enable him to add years to his career and keep himself performing at his best on the field. His comment indicates that although he has no short-term plans to retire, he is already making plans on how he can remain at his best until the 2028 season. He owes his entrepreneurial understanding to his wife, who belongs to a business family. The Indian skipper stated: "I would have definitely been doing business, 100%. I have some business sense. And ever since I got married, because my wife comes from a complete business background, from a business family, talking with her has made me realize that if I didn’t play cricket, how I could have doubled, tripled, or quadrupled my money."
