Chennai Super Kings assistant coach Sridharan Sriram responded to the buzz around Suresh Raina possibly rejoining the franchise in a coaching role next season. The speculation emerged after Raina made a suggestive comment during his commentary stint in CSK's final IPL 2025 game against Gujarat Titans, hinting at talks around a new batting coach. When asked about Raina’s remark during the post-match press conference, Sriram laughed it off and said, “I don’t know. I have to ask him if he said that.” Raina, a CSK legend who remains the franchise’s all-time leading run-scorer, had cheekily hinted at someone with the fastest fifty for CSK possibly taking over as batting coach. Reflecting on their late-season additions, Sriram said, “These are forced changes. There were injuries that happened, and we had to replace. Fortunately for us, the people who came in did well.” On being asked whether the poor season was a result of auction errors, Sriram added, “I won’t go back and dig too deep into it, saying we made mistakes at the auction table.” Despite the turbulent campaign, the chatter around Raina’s potential return in a coaching role has given fans a new storyline to follow as CSK look to reset for 2026, with Ruturaj Gaikwad confirmed to lead the side next year.
