The IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has acquired the Northern Superchargers and changed the name of the franchise to Sunrisers Leeds for the 2026 season of The Hundred. The team has also disclosed their retention list and announced new player signings for the men's and women's squads in the coming season. The 2026 season of The Hundred is going to be the first season to have a players' auction instead of the draft model as the league moves into private ownership. The men's team will be headed by Daniel Vettori, who is also the coach of SRH in IPL. They retained the T20 World Cup 2026 and the England players Harry Brook and Brydon Carse. The white-ball captain of England, Harry Brook, participated in the last 2025 season’s nine games and made a total of 227 runs with a remarkable average of 37.83. His new contract will allegedly give him around £500,000. On the other hand, pacer Brydon Carse was absent throughout the 2025 season because of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB)'s workload management, given that Carse is an essential part of England's pace attack in all formats. While discussing the keys to direct signings, the SRH franchise acquired Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who is performing excellently in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL 2025-26), and his fellow Australian pacer Nathan Ellis. Speaking of their retentions, the team not only retained the best Australian talents Annabel Sutherland and Phoebe Litchfield from the previous year but also England seamer Kate Cross. It is worth mentioning that the three players were instrumental in Northern Superchargers’ victory in the Women’s Hundred final last year. Litchfield was the player with the most runs in the tournament, amassing a total of 292 runs off 10 innings with a very good average of 41.71, while Annabel Sutherland, who was also a teammate, shone with 206 runs and a fantastic average of 51.50. Sutherland was also great as a bowler, getting 16 wickets at a cost of 14.43 runs per wicket on average to rank as the tournament's second-highest wicket-taker, just ahead of England's Kate Cross who got 15 wickets.
