In the latest development, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have signed South African dynamic allrounder Wiaan Mulder as a replacement for injured Brydon Carse for the upcoming edition of IPL 2025. Carse, who has been dealing with a toe injury, will not feature in the tournament. Carse, who was picked up by SRH for his base price of INR 1 crore, had irked his left toe during the ODI series against England before the Champions Trophy 2025. His injury worsened during the first CT 2025 clash against Australia in Lahore where he only bowled just seven overs out of his full quota of overs. Eventually leading him to be ruled out of the entire competition. Unfortunately, South Africa suffered a disappointing loss to New Zealand in the second semi-final of the Champions Trophy and was knocked out. Mulder had earlier registered himself in the IPL auction for a base price of INR 75 Lakhs but he was unsold. His brilliant all-rounder performance in the Champions Trophy has given him a way to feature in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Mulder has featured in 128 T20 matches, he has scored 2172 runs and also taken 67 wickets. Mulder will feature in his maiden IPL campaign but he has been part of SA20, Mzansi Super League (MSL), and England's Vitality Blast. His addition to Sunrisers Hyderabad will not only provide batting depth but also give them a bowling option to try out in the league. SRH, the 2024 IPL runner-up, is set to commence their IPL 2025 campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 23 in Hyderabad.
