Sunil Narine has been a linchpin for the Kolkata Knight Riders since he first stepped onto an IPL ground in 2012. He has seen it all and has been an excellent contributor in KKR's title victories of 2012, 2014, and 2024. In his IPL career, Narine has played 177 matches with an aggregate of 1,534 runs and 180 wickets. Even though he has consistently produced outstanding performances, Narine had to face adversity when his bowling action was questioned and modified in order to keep winning matches for his team. Mysterious spin and explosive batting have made Narine a remarkable player for KKR. All-round performances in the last IPL season have rated among the finest for him. However, with advancing years and changing trends in T20 cricket, KKR might look forward to moving ahead. That unorthodox bowling action, often questioned in terms of legality, may also play a role. Trendy teams seek modern, high-intensity format players as they might not have the same reasons for this decision. So if Narine leaves, KKR will face quite a bit of trouble replacing his invaluable presence in their batting and bowling line-ups. Indeed, Narine, alongside Chandrakant Pandit and former fellow player Dwayne Bravo, would add huge value. At present, however, Narine is focused on coming up with the goods in another brilliant IPL season with KKR for 2025. It is true that the aim of Kolkata Knight Riders extends beyond 2025 IPL season, availing themselves of the ability of Narine to deliver much more with bat and ball. This contributes extensively as KKR hopes to defend its title this year.
