Much before the Bangladesh series, there have been talks about India's strategy for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is set to begin on November 22. Some of the Australian cricketers have been speaking on this for quite some time, and the Indian media haven't been shy to ask their Indian players about their planning and preparation for the blockbuster series up next. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma's team is in an extremely precarious position in the second Test in Pune after losing the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru. Riding on a 301-run lead after Day 2, the Black Caps are eyeing a win that would mean India is on the cusp of losing a home Test series for the first time in 12 years. Commenting on the second day, former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar had suggested that Indian players did not need to think much about the Australia series and should look forward towards New Zealand. “Don’t talk about Australia now. That’s a mistake a lot of people make too often. You’ve got to worry about what’s happening now. Your focus should be only on what’s happening at the moment. Australia will take care of itself. You will find the methods to beat Australia,” Gavaskar said while on air with Sports18. The players are focused on the game. It’s the circle around which is the media and everybody else which is talking about Australia. There is so much of coverage about what is going to happen in Australia,” he added. The top order of India is also in turmoil during the series against New Zealand. Although Rohit and Virat Kohli scored half-century each in the second innings of the first Test, still a big knock is missing. KL Rahul, who is another senior player, has been dropped, and as Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan continue performing, he won't find place for himself in the playing XI.
