Ex-Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar publicly endorsed Shubman Gill to be India's next Test skipper. The Punjab-born batter already captains Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, and the team stands second in the points table with eight victories from 11 matches. Gill is heavily rumored to succeed Rohit Sharma, who surprisingly declared his Test retirement recently. During a chat on JioHotstar, Gavaskar was full of praise for Gill's captaincy and play this season. Gavaskar was impressed with Gill not just for his run-scoring solidity and support to other batsmen but also for being actively involved in bowling plans. Taking Rashid Khan's example, Gavaskar showed how Gill was composed and smiling even as the leg-spinner had a terrible start to the tournament.
