Yash Dayal had a big match in the last league match of IPL 2024 with the dismissal of MS Dhoni. The match was between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and do-or-die for both since the match was for a playoff ticket. Dayal was given a very tough task of defending 17 runs in the last over against MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, two of the best finishers in IPL history. Dhoni started the over with a huge six, sending the ball onto the roof of Chinnaswamy Stadium. With a new ball brought in, Dayal bowled a back-of-the-hand slower delivery. Dhoni again tried to hit big, but this time was caught near the boundary by Swapnil Singh. Dayal allowed just seven runs and saw his team win the match while knocking CSK out of the tournament. Months later, the clip of Dhoni getting dismissed surfaced on Dayal's Instagram story. Even that had Zaheer Khan, doing a similar dismissal of Dhoni. The fans began to relate this with Dayal trying to become another Indian legend. On Jatin Sapru's YouTube channel, Dayal said: "I felt bad after dismissing him [MS Dhoni]. Because I don’t know or care what people say but the frustration with which he left the ground, it was like you don’t know whether he will return or not. Will we ever see him again on the ground? It was a moment where a lot of things were going through my head. I got a breather, a bit of relief."
