Punjab Kings co-owner and Bollywood star Preity Zinta didn’t mince her words when confronted with a sexist and bizarre question during an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday. A troll, referencing Glenn Maxwell’s poor form in IPL 2025, asked if the Australian all-rounder wasn’t performing well because he hadn’t married Zinta. The user’s offensive question, which was later deleted, read, “Ma'am, did Maxwell not perform better for your team because he didn't marry you?” Zinta hit back with a scathing reply, calling out the gender bias and double standards faced by women in leadership positions. “Would you ask this question to the male team owners of other teams, or is this kind of discrimination reserved only for women?” she began, before delivering a firm message on the toxic sexism that still plagues cricket’s corporate environment. “I never realised how difficult it is for women to survive in corporate setups until I entered the world of cricket. I'm sure you asked this out of humour, but I hope you take a moment to actually read your question and reflect on what you're implying — because if you truly understand it, it's not pretty. Reacting to a fan’s question on Kohli’s Test exit, Zinta said: “I saw test cricket mainly for Virat. He infused so much passion and so much character into the game with his competitiveness & the desire to excel. I don’t think test cricket will ever be the same again.” Zinta added that Indian cricket was now facing a major void in the format, especially with stalwarts like Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and R Ashwin no longer playing red-ball cricket. “Our current Indian players will have big shoes to fill cuz the likes of Virat, Rohit & Ashwin are not playing test cricket anymore.” I saw test cricket mainly for Virat. He infused so much passion and so much character into the game with his competitiveness & the desire to excel. I don’t think test cricket will ever be the same again. I wish him well and all the best for his future. The Australian all-rounder has been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to injury.
