Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli, who was once seen as one of the most talented batters in Indian cricket, is now trying to recover after going through several years of health and personal problems. Kambli has faced many serious issues, including brain blood clots, heart troubles, depression, and struggles with alcohol. Yograj Singh Speaks About Kambli’s Career In recent times, Yograj Singh, the father of erstwhile India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, went on record about the lost potential of Kambli. In an interview with InsideSport, Yograj revealed that he had cautioned Kambli at the beginning of his career against making correct decisions. Yograj added that if Kambli had made better decisions, his career could have progressed a lot more. See what happened to him. I was talking to him personally but then he said, ‘Sir, apka time chala gaya (your time has passed). He used to think, ‘I’m the king’. You are not bigger than the game." Kambli, who is from Mumbai, had a great start to his international career in 1993. He hit two double centuries in his first seven Test matches and became one of the fastest players to score 1,000 runs in Test cricket. But by 1995, his Test career had already ended. Despite having an impressive average, Kambli’s career was cut short due to reports of fitness issues and off-field discipline problems. He had a heart attack in 2013 and had to get angioplasty to clear two blocked arteries. He has also spent time in rehab centres for his alcohol problems. More recently, he was treated for blood clots in his brain. Though the road has been arduous, updates indicate Kambli is now improving and is gradually progressing towards a healthier existence.
