Ben Stokes has been a source of inspiration for England as a cricket captain and player. Since becoming the captain of the English Test side, Stokes has gotten the best out of his players and has imparted to them a fighting spirit that has been praised by experts and fans alike. Stokes led by example in the third Test against India, delivering long bowling spells and claiming key wickets, all while showcasing strong leadership. Despite that, India held the upper hand for most of the intense clash at Lord’s. Stokes and Co. were however dogged in their quest for a victory, and they finally emerged 22 runs winners to put themselves in the driver's seat with a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Former England skipper Michael Vaughan was especially happy with Stokes' move to recall Jofra Archer into England's playing eleven for the first time in four years in Test cricket for the India match. Vaughan was also impressed with certain of Stokes' field placements. Here is what Vaughan said while speaking on Cricbuzz “What he has done for the team and the way he has played this expansive game across Test match cricket for the number of years is phenomenal,” Also Read | 'Not Here for Holiday' - Gavaskar Targets Bumrah's Test Break Vaughan also expressed the view that the Three Lions do not lose that many games with Stokes at the helm of the team. The cricketer turned commentator said the all-rounder has the knack of coming good in pressurized situations. “England don’t lose many games of cricket when Ben Stokes is in action. When the pressure’s been on and the game’s on a knife edge, I don’t think I have ever seen Ben lose,” he added. England lost the first two games in the Ashes in 2023 at home under Stokes' captaincy. But they won two of the next three games to level the scores. England are set to play Australia in the Ashes later this year. Vaughan feels that even if England loses the series, it should not do any damage to Stokes' reputation as a leader and a player.
