Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off a stunning chase, hunting down 246 in the 19th over to register their second win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Batting first, PBKS posted 245/6 in 20 overs, thanks to Shreyas Iyer's 36-ball 82. However, it wasn't enough as the home side chased down the total with ease. After Punjab Kings' eight-wicket loss on Saturday, captain Shreyas Iyer pointed to dropped catches as one of the key reasons behind the defeat. "We could have taken two exceptional catches. He [Abhishek] was a bit lucky as well even though he played an exceptional knock. Catches win you matches and we fell short there," Iyer said during the post-match presentation. Despite posting a massive total, Iyer admitted that Abhishek Sharma’s brilliance with the bat took the game away from them. "It was a fantastic total. It has been making me laugh with the way they have chased it with two overs to spare. When we discussed out there, we thought 230 was a good score. But with the dew coming in, it made the wicket a bit easier. Also credit where due. The way they batted was out of the world. It was one of the best knocks I have seen in the IPL," he added. He revealed Lockie Ferguson's injury during the match. The Kiwi bowler only bowled two deliveries before walking off the field. Marcus Stoinis was brought in to complete his over. "We didn't bowl well, but we have to go back to the drawing board. It was a big impact. Lockie Ferguson is someone who can get you instant wickets. That was a big blow. He is someone who clicks 140 at all times and niggles happen. Other bowlers are also there to win matches. So no excuses," he said. With the loss, Punjab Kings now sit sixth on the IPL 2025 points table, having won three and lost two so far. They will next face Kolkata Knight Riders at home on April 15.
