One of the greatest Test batters in recent times, Steve Smith, has expressed his urge to represent Australia in the Los Angeles Olympics 2028, which is supposed to occur in the T20 format. Steve Smith, after completing his national duties for the 5-match Test series against India, has joined his team, the Sydney Sixers. In the very first match, he scored a century against the Perth Scorchers, and that probably has ignited his urge to play the Olympics. In the post-match interview, he said, "I'd like to play the Olympics. I reckon that'd be cool. So we will see how far I go in terms of long-form cricket. But I am going to play short-form cricket for a while. I think, when I finish, and yeah, you never know, I mean, there's a lot of young, good kids that are smacking the ball out of the park. There are plenty of guys in the country who can give whak." Steve Smith has not been the T-20 plan for the country for quite a while. Despite that, Smith feels that given the chance to play the format on a regular basis, he will get his mojo back and will be able to "help the boys." Smith added, Yeah, I find the more I kind of play in particularly back-to-back games, you kind of get in sync with the game. So today, for instance, like I said, I don't think I played my first ten balls really well. I was probably going a bit too hard for how the wicket was playing as well. It was quite stoppy. So you know I had a bit of luck potentially early and then from there found some rhythm. But I think if I am playing regularly T20, I'd probably come out with a slightly different mindset, potentially at the start, and give myself a little bit of time and just play probably better cricket shots than a bit of the rogue stuffs. So yeah, I think that would come if I was playing consistently. Any chance I get, I like to come back I could have played The Other night maybe in Melbourne, but I need it. It needed a beat of downtime after what was a pretty hectic five Test matches. So I am kind of glad that I didn't try to freshen up a bit for tonight. And yeah, fortunately, I was able to help the boys." Read also: Rohit Sharma's Retirement Drama & Captaincy Under Scrutiny Steve Smith at the Olympics in three year's time? After being dropped on 31 by Cooper Connolly, he capitalized on the chance, hitting seven sixes and ten boundaries. A brilliant save by Sam Fanning delayed Smith's century, but he reached the milestone in just 58 balls, marking his third BBL ton. In the final over, Smith hammered Jason Behrendorff for three sixes, boosting the Sixers' total. This century tied Smith with Ben McDermott for three BBL centuries, achieving the feat in 32 innings, compared to McDermott's 96. Speaking about cricket, it is returning to the Olympics at the 2028 Los Angeles Games after last being played in the 1900 Paris Olympics. The sport will be featured in the T20 format. This decision was approved during the IOC's 141st session in Mumbai, alongside the inclusion of four other sports: baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse (sixes), and squash. Cricket’s return marks a significant moment, reflecting the sport's global popularity and adding excitement to the Olympic program.
