India has seen a surge of state leagues over the past few years, with the Delhi Premier League (DPL) being one of them, playing its second season. When it seems like states are competing with each other, DPL's current President Rohan Jaitley, said, none of the leagues are in a tug of war. the leagues are basically enhancing the respective state's and India's ecosystem. Jaitley said, "State leagues are not competitors; they are feeders to their own ecosystems. Each state has its own talent pool and structure. More leagues mean more opportunities for players, which is beneficial for Indian cricket overall." Rohan Jaitley sounds pretty satisfied with the league's second season. According to him, the league has benefited the ecosystem by encouraging cricketers from different corners of the capital irrespective of gender and age. It has also bettered the already existing management. Jaitley remarked, “As an administrator, you always aim to improve from the previous season—better organisation, preparation and execution. I’m pleased to say this year the league is more structured and professional." He added, “Teams are better prepared, management is sharper and the overall ecosystem has grown stronger. Records won’t be broken every season, you might not see six sixes in an over every year, but what matters is the consistency and scale of the competition. There is no downside, players are fitter, more committed and better prepared. They’ve been in game mode for weeks, with fitness camps and matches keeping them at their peak ahead of the domestic season."
