The much-anticipated list of retained players for the IPL 2025 season has finally been unveiled by the franchises. October 31 marked the deadline for all ten IPL teams to submit their lists. The released lists may surprise or intrigue fans, as some franchises have chosen to back their core players, while others have made unexpected cuts, even letting go of some long-standing team members. Notably, several players have opted for pay cuts this season, showcasing their commitment to stay with their teams. Notably, Shivam Dube: a standout performer known for his power against spin has earned the team’s trust. However, despite his impressive contributions, Dube's retention fee is set slightly lower than that of Pathirana. Pathirana will earn INR 13 crore, surpassing Dube’s INR 12 crore, reflecting the unique value each player brings to the squad. Mumbai Indians (MI) Following significant controversies involving Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma, the franchise ended up in 10th place, marking one of their lowest points. Interestingly, for IPL 2025, Rohit who was once MI’s iconic captain has been retained as the team’s fourth choice, positioned behind Hardik and Suryakumar Yadav in terms of priority and salary. Meanwhile, Hardik and SKY will be paid less than Jasprit Bumrah who was retained at the top for INR 18 CR. Gujarat Titans (GT) The franchise has decided to keep their captain, Shubman Gill, along with star all-rounder Rashid Khan. Other retained players include Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan. Notably, Shubman Gill, the team's regular skipper, had previously agreed to take a pay cut in his IPL salary to help retain key players. This trend continues, as Gill will now be earning less than Rashid Khan, who was the franchise's top priority. Rashid Khan will be paid INR 18 CR whereas Gill will be paid INR 16.5 INR for IPL 2025. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) The finalists of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) emerged as one of the most thrilling teams last season. Reports had earlier suggested that Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins was willing to accept a salary reduction to make room for Heinrich Klaasen, and that has now been confirmed. Klaasen is set to become the highest-paid retained player in IPL history, with a salary of INR 23 crore. Meanwhile, Cummins will earn INR 18 crore. In a surprising twist, Travis Head, SRH's most explosive batsman, will earn less than Cummins, with a salary of INR 14 crore.
