In the latest development, Sri Lanka has announced their Test squad for their upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa which is set to be played from November 27 in Durban and the remaining Test will be played from December 5 in Gqeberha. For the preparation of the South Africa Test series, 10 Sri Lankan players had already left for South Africa last week to join a pre-series camp. The list includes key players like skipper Dhananjaya de Silva, Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, and Prabath Jayasuriya. The squad has been making key arrangements for the training and practice in Durban ahead of the series. The rest of the squad will fly to South Africa on November 22. For the third and final ODI of the ongoing series against New Zealand, the Sri Lanka cricket board selectors have opted to rest Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Kamindu Mendis, and Asitha Fernando to allow them time to recover and focus on the upcoming Test series. To fill the gaps in the squad, Nuwanidu Fernando, Lahiru Udara, and Eshan Malinga have been called up for the ODI team. The opening Test between Sri Lanka and South Africa is set to begin on November 27 at Kingsmead in Durban, followed by the second Test on December 5 at St. George's Park in Gqeberha.
