Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) - the governing body for the operations in the country has rubbished the rumors of a financial crisis situation among the organization on the operational front. The Sri Lankan board has entirely fabricated the misleading reports circulating on some of the news and social media platforms in the last couple of days or so. Interestingly, the false reports emerged through the channels as Sri Lanka is gearing up to co-host the next Men's T20 World Cup in 2026 with its neighbouring country India. The SLC has now stepped in to refute the unfounded reports and has also confirmed that the accounts at the organization are fully stable and good enough to be gearing up for the flagship T20I tournament. Here is what an SLC media release dated Thursday, July 31 read: “Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) wishes to clarify that recent claims circulating on social media suggesting a financial crisis within the organization are completely unfounded and misleading. We affirm that Sri Lanka Cricket possesses sufficient financial stability to manage its operations as well as to implement its long-term strategic initiatives,” “At present, SLC is actively and successfully engaged in preparations to co-host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026 alongside India, and to conduct 11 matches of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 scheduled for September this year.
