Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have found a replacement for their injured leg-spinner Adam Zampa, signing the talented 21-year-old batter Smaran Ravichandran. The decision, confirmed by an IPL media advisory on Monday, comes after Zampa was ruled out of IPL 2025 due to a shoulder injury. Smaran, who plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket, joins the SRH camp for INR 30 lakh, the same amount that Mumbai's Ayush Mhatre fetched when he was picked up by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as a replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad. His List A record is even more stellar, with 433 runs from 10 matches at an average of 72.16, including two centuries. In T20s, Smaran has shown remarkable consistency, scoring 170 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 170. Despite being unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, Smaran’s recent performances have turned heads. His match-winning century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy final for Karnataka was a highlight, followed by more centuries in the Ranji Trophy. Smaran’s remarkable showing in the Maharaja Trophy, where he scored 302 runs at an average of 43.14 and a blistering strike rate of 145.19, further cemented his credentials.
