South Africa has announced their T20I squad for the three-match home series against Pakistan and Heinrich Klaasen has been named as captain. Aiden Markram will not lead the side in Pakistan due to the second Test that is scheduled to commence from December 5. Kagiso Rabada and Tristan Stubbs will also not feature in the Pakistan T20I series for the same reason. Nortje will return for this series, he was last seen during the ICC T20 World Cup Final in June this year. Apart from Nortje, the star wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi will also feature in the series. Shamsi stepped away from the Proteas national contract to play league cricket tournaments around the world. Tabraiz Shamsi's participation in the opening T20I against Pakistan hinges on how far his team, Lahore Qalandars, advances in the ongoing Guyana T20 League. The Proteas have also made another notable change, they have added George Linde to their squad, the left-arm spinner has returned to the Proteas squad after a gap of three years. Interestingly, the first T20 match is scheduled for next Tuesday in Durban, just a day after the Test match in Gqeberha wraps up. The remaining two T20s will be held in Centurion and Johannesburg. Following the T20 series, both teams will compete in a three-match ODI series, which will be followed by two Test matches.
