South Africa have named their 15-member team for the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 that will start from October 3. Captain Laura Wolvaardt will again lead a balanced team with experienced campaigners and talented youngsters. One of the biggest discussing points is the selection of 17-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Karabo Meso, who has been given a reward for her performances for the junior side. Meso has already played two ODIs and five T20Is for the senior side, apart from playing for South Africa in the ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cups of 2023 and 2025. She will be a cover for senior wicketkeeper Sinalo Jafta. Veteran Core and Notable Omissions South Africa's team is much the same as from recent tours, with Marizanne Kapp, Suné Luus, and Nadine de Klerk constituting a solid core of all-rounders. Kapp will also lead a seasoned pace attack with Ayabonga Khaka and Masabata Klaas. But there is no room for former captain Dane van Niekerk, who recently went back on her retirement plan—a move announced last week by head coach Mandla Mashimbyi. CSA Convenor of Selectors Clinton du Preez highlighted the thought that went into the selection. South Africa are looking to end their ICC title dry spell, and they are hoping big things from Wolvaardt's captaincy and Kapp's all-round excellence.
