With the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to be held on September 28 in Mumbai, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is poised to attend the meeting table on behalf of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). BCCI is at a turning point with president Roger Binny resigning after becoming 70 in July under the board's age-cap rule. Vice-President Rajeev Shukla has been holding the position in an acting role since then. Therefore, to correct the vacancies and decide on some important agendas, BCCI has scheduled an AGM on September 28 at its Mumbai headquarters. According to The Telegraph India, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly will attend the BCCI’s AGM as the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) representative. Just days before that, on September 22, Ganguly is all set to take charge as CAB president at its own AGM. And if rumours are to be believed, Ganguly could also run for the BCCI presidency. Although Devajit Saikia (secretary), Rohan Gauns Dessai (joint secretary), and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia (treasurer) are likely to hold on to their positions, everybody's eyes are fixed on the president's seat. This vacuum has given rise to swirling rumours about prospective successors, and even Sachin Tendulkar has been linked to the top job. But soon put an end to the buzz the chatter, Sachin Tendulkar. In a firm statement, his team threw out the reports that he would contest for the BCCI presidency position as "unfounded speculations". The batting great clarified that he has no involvement in BCCI election saga, asking all not to give any importance to baseless rumors.
