The former Delhi Capitals team director Sourav Ganguly has joined another branch of JSW Sports, the Pretoria Capitals in SA20 as the head coach for the upcoming fourth season, beginning on December 26. Ganguly had earlier served the Delhi Capitals men's team from 2018 and 2019, however left the post after he became the BCCI president. Capital's parent company, JSW Sports, last year appointed him as the director of cricket and was closely working with the women's team in the Women's Premier League. Well, this is the first time Ganguly will be working with a Premier League group as head coach. The position of head coach in Pretoria Capitals went vacant after former English batter Jonathan Trott departed. Announcing Ganguly's arrival, the franchise wrote, "The Prince is all set to bring a royal flair to the Capitals camp! We are ecstatic to announce Sourav Ganguly as our new Head Coach." Trott has departed after he was appointed as Afghanistan's head coach. He will be touring with the team for the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. Notably, to make the window for the multinational tournament, the SA20 has been moved to the window from December 26 to January 25. We’ll see where it goes." Under his leadership, India reached the final of the 2003 ICC World Cup. Following his retirement from international cricket, Ganguly transitioned into administrative roles, serving first as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) before taking charge as the BCCI president in 2019. His stint at the helm concluded in 2022, with Roger Binny stepping in as his successor.
