In a piece of disappointing news for the White Ferns, their skipper Sophie Devine has withdrawn from the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka. The news follows after the batter decided to opt out from Super Smash and the ongoing WPL 2025 citing home health reasons. Sophie Devine, who has been on a break prioritizing her mental well-being, is set to miss another home series for the same reasons, said New Zealand’s Cricket Board on Monday. The 35-year-old all-rounder has been away from the field on professional advice and she is unlikely to participate anytime soon. The decision was solely taken by the skipper and the board has completely supported this decision. Liz Green, NZC’s Head of Women’s High Performance came forward to share her views on Devine, she mentioned that NZC fully supports and backs the legendary figure for her decision. Moreover, they are committed to valuing the well-being of the country's cricketers. As quoted by NDTV Sports, Liz Green said: “Player well-being is our highest priority, and it’s important that Sophie feels fit and well before returning to professional cricket. We are fully supportive of Sophie’s decision not to take part in the upcoming series.” Also Read: Ellyse Perry’s Iconic FIFA World Cup Knockout Goal Resurfaces Sophie Devine played a key role both as a player and leader in New Zealand’s first T20 World Cup title in October last year which was held in UAE.
