Even being out of favour with the national selectors, Ajinkya Rahane is still showing his mettle. The erstwhile Mumbai captain made a century in the match against KSCA Secretary's XI in match in the KSCA K Thimmapaiah Trophy in Bengaluru on Thursday. Rahane played his last Test for India in Jul 2023 after which he has fallen out of favour with the selectors. Rahane slams another ton, but is it of any use? Rahane played a 103-run knock in Mumbai vs KSCA Secretary’s XI, with his knock studded with 12 fours and 2 sixes. His knock helped Mumbai draw the match against the opposition. It is pertinent to point out that Rahane had stepped down as Mumbai’s captain just before the tournament, in a bid to help the side groom a future leader. As much as Rahane has been consistent in IPL 2025 and other domestic matches, he won't get another opportunity to play for India. Rahane's record as a captain is impressive. Some of the notable ones are the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2022/23, Duleep Trophy 2022/23, Ranji Trophy 2023/24 and Irani Cup in 2024. It is worthwhile to mention that Rahane has also led India in T20Is, ODIs and Tests in the past. He was appointed as KKR's captain for IPL 2025. Rahane, who is to play his 19th first-class year this year, was omitted from the West Zone team in the Duleep Trophy. Instead, Shardul Thakur, his Mumbai teammate, was appointed captain. Ayush Mhatre, who is 17 years old, was appointed captain of the Mumbai team for the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament. Siddhesh Lad is captaining the Mumbai team in the KSCA tournament.
